Chiropractic

Q: What is Chiropractic?
A: Chiropractic is the art and science of locating and relieving spine and nerve stress.

Q: How old is chiropractic care?
A: Spinal manipulation has been around for thousands of years in the Far East, but chiropractic, as we know it today, was started by D. D. Palmer in 1895.

Q: What does a Chiropractor do?
A: The doctor of chiropractic analyzes your body for spinal stress using his hands and other analysis tools. He then corrects of removes any spinal nerve stress using various spinal adjustment techniques. These techniques vary from low force spinal manipulation to soft tissue therapies.

Q: Can I receive chiropractic care if I am undergoing other medical care?
A: Yes. Chiropractic care is an excellent compliment to routine medical care. A chiropractor will consider all medical history during treatment.

Q: If xrays are ordered, is the chiropractor qualified to review the results?
A: Chiropractors complete many hours of radiology in order to review xrays. If the chiropractor is not sure about any xray results, he will have a radiologist review them.

Q: How can a person get spinal nerve stress?
A: Spinal nerve stress can come from falls, sports incidents, accidents, or “everyday wear and tear” such as working in the garden.

Q: Why is it important to relieve spinal nerve stress?
A: Spinal nerve stress can be the main cause of many health problems including neck pain, back pain, headaches, sciatic, and many other complaints.

Q: What other factors relieve stress on the spine and spinal nerves?
A: Proper nutrition, moderate exercise, and adequate rest help reduce stress on the spine. These three factors also contribute to a life of wellness.

Acupuncture

Q: What is acupuncture?
A: Acupuncture is a five thousand year old system of natural healing. Acupuncture is concerned with restoring proper energy flow to various organs, glands, and tissues of the body.

Q: How are disturbances in energy flow detected?
A: Methods such as assessing signs and symptoms, pain spots, and organ reflex points are used to evaluate energy flow. Instruments are also used to find disturbances.

Q: How are acupuncture treatments performed?
A: Acupuncture treatments are performed using microcurrent or needles to stimulate energy flow. Needles used during acupuncture do not cause bleeding or infection and are virtually painless.

Q: What are conditions commonly treated with acupuncture?
A: Textbook listed conditions run into the hundreds. Typical ailments responding to acupuncture are musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, neck pain, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and knee pain. Acupuncture successfully treats menstrual cramps, bedwetting, neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia, shingles, asthma, and many other conditions.

Q: How many acupuncture treatments are required before I see progress?
A: Acupuncture is not like taking a medication. It is a natural healing art. Many people see improvement after 8-10 visits. However, some people require less or more treatment depending on the severity of their condition and the body’s response.

Q: Out of ten people receiving acupuncture, how many typically see good results?
A: Usually eight out of the ten patients will see improvement in their condition. Two out of the ten may fail to see improvement in their condition due to severity of condition, advanced age, and disease progression.
